Project Overview

Lambda Engineering provided structural and fabrication design services for a hip-roof steel frame structure developed for an industrial facility in a remote region of Pakistan. The building was conceived as a pre-engineered steel system, integrating lightweight frames, insulated wall panels, and rapid-assembly foundations to enable fast construction under challenging site conditions.

Design & Engineering Features

  • Structural System: Modular steel frame with cold-formed secondary members and a hipped roof geometry to optimize drainage and wind resistance.

  • Frame Type: Built-up I-sections with bolted rafter apex connections and moment-resisting column bases.

  • Roof Slope: Dual-pitch hipped form allowing controlled runoff and improved thermal performance.

  • Envelope: Sandwich panel system (PUF/rockwool) for thermal insulation and acoustic control.

  • Foundation: Reinforced concrete grade beam and isolated footing grid designed for uniform load transfer over variable soil strata.

  • Erection Methodology: Pre-assembled frames lifted in modular bays, allowing complete structure installation within a reduced schedule.

Engineering Highlights

  • Designed per AISC 360-16 and ASCE 7-16 codes for gravity, wind, and seismic loads.

  • Optimized fabrication drawings prepared for CNC cutting and shop welding.

  • Roof and wall connections detailed to accommodate future expansion and panel replacements

Outcome

A durable and efficient modular structure designed for fast-track deployment and low maintenance — reflecting Lambda’s precision in structural design for industrial applications.
