Intro

This 39-story mixed-use tower comprises 588 residential units and ~ 50,000 sq ft of anchor retail (Whole Foods), supported by a 7-level, 748-space parking podium. Our scope covered façade, glazing and railing drawings packages — developing shop drawings, anchor and fastener details, wind-load verification, structural coordination. Due to the size of this project, the drawings work was subdivided into several submittals making it fast and easy for the construction team to execute priority areas.

Objective

Since cost is always a major factor for any glazing contractor, we had to meticulously develop the drawings while comparing various product options to suggest our client the most optimal and cost efficient solution that qualifies the wind loads for this skyscraper.

Challenge

The wind loads had to be precisely analyzed as per the CPP wind tunnel report, mark openings identified as per various wind zones shown and qualify the openings accordingly. Another challenge was to coordinate between structural and architectural set conditions and make sure all openings still qualify the specifications and achieve the overall architectural look of the building.

Result

After a team effort of several engineers, drafters and project managers the project was a success. Accurate drawings and engineering solutions delivered by Lambda resulted in project installation meeting the aggressive timelines.
